Microarray Gene Expression Analysis Core

The Musculoskeletal Diseases Affymetrix and cDNA Microarray Core Facility is designed to allow Musculoskeletal Diseases Center members to profile and compare gene expression patterns using Affymetrix and cDNA microarrays and conduct single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) haplotyping studies.  The Core is designed to provide a broad range of services for experienced and novice investigators.  The Musculoskeletal Diseases Microarray Core Facility has merged operations with the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMCCC) Affymetrix and cDNA Microarray Core Facility.  Generous subsidies are offered to Musculoskeletal Diseases Center members when they utilize the services of the UMCCC Affymetrix and cDNA Microarray Core Facility.

The merger with the UMCCC Affymetrix and cDNA Microarray Core Facility provides Musculoskeletal Diseases Center members with a broad array of technical services (GeneChip processing, spotted arrays and SNP profiling) and bioinformatics and statistical consulting.  Affymetrix technology is offered on a full- or partial-service basis, with full-service including RNA analysis, probe labeling, fragmentation, hybridization, scanning and initial biostatistical analysis.  Partial-services are also offered where the investigator can have laboratory personnel trained to perform the probe labeling and fragmentation steps.
